"...And I'm afraid that you will have to locate them, as you are the only one that can move freely at the moment."
Hien scowled and stared down at the floor as Shigi sweet-talked to Taki. Stupid, useless bastard. There had to be something wrong with the blond captain if he couldn't see that.
"..."
Hien winced and gritted his teeth as he felt another twinge in his arm. Were the herbs wearing off? He flexed it experimentally.
Eating, fighting, swimming, training... How could he do those things now that he was left with one arm; the weaker, more useless arm?
Arm-wrestling, writing, masturbating... Hien shuddered at the thought. THAT FUCKING WOMAN. He wanted to strangle her.
...Fuck. He couldn't even do that.
Hien growled to himself as Taki exited with that annoyingly smug look on his handsome little face. He could practically feel annoyed vibes coming from Shigi. Well, fuck him. His arm hadn't been cut off. Sure, he might be less pretty by a fraction with that scar, but... Anger welled up in him again. Why the fuck hadn't they seen it coming? Fuck it. Fuck it all! Fuck it all to hell and...
"Hien."
A cool voice interuppted his monotonous thoughts. He looked up to see Shigi eyeing him closely. Hien shifted uncomfortably, not meeting his eyes. Shigi could be such a bitch, sometimes. Like now. Like whenever they were with Taki...
"Hien!"
There was a slight warning tone in the blond's voice.
"...What?"
He muttered grudgingly, glowering towards his companion. Shigi sighed.
"How is your arm?"
"Fine."
Hien answered shortly, bristling. 'No thanks to you...' he wanted to add. Shigi slowly crossed the room, eyes bank as he trailed his fingers over the bandage on his cheek.
"We'll have to be more careful next time."
Hien's eyes narrowed as the blond sat across from him.
"No shit."
He snapped, turning away huffily. There was a notable silence from the other. For a few minutes, neither said anything. Hien started to fidget guiltily, sneaking glances at his superior. The moonligh illuminated Shigi's pale skin and shone again his silky hair. Hien's breath caught as he stared at the blond's face. His usual smile had been replaced with a dejected and lost expression, making him look, for a second, vulnerable...and perhaps beautiful.
Hien kicked himself at the thought. Falling in love was so far down his to-do list, it was currently burrowing its way through the bottom walls of hell. And with Shigi? Heh. Pathetic. And not just because the blond was a stony-faced bitch of a killing machine, either. There was no chance of Shigi ever feeling the same way. Ever. No. Nuh-uh. Definitely not...
Crystal blue eyes flickered onto him as he grudgingly admired his companion's graceful profile, looking searchingly into is face. Hien cleared his throat, blushed, and looked away; mentally kicking himself (again) for the obvious display of suspicious behaviour. Not that the blond would probably care. Or notice. Hell, even if he did notice...
"...Hien..."
Shigi's voice sounded distant, but it still startled him.
"..Uh, yeah?"
Shigi slowly stood up, a brief wince of pain flitting across his face, and a hand clutching reflexively into his chest. Hien swallowed guiltily as he remembered the deep chest-wound the blond had taken.
"...Does it hurt?"
He asked casually. Shigi's eyes widened fractionally, and his hand dropped back to his side.
"No."
Ha, a lie. Hien raised his eyebrow.
"...We should sleep now."
Shigi said quietly, bowing his head a he exited the tent. With a shrug - accompanied by a yelp of pain - Hien followed, hobbling back to their shared tent. He heard a sharp gasp escape Shigi's lips as the blond tried to duck into it like he usually did.
"That will hurt."
Hien commented as he warily grabbed the back of the his shirt to keep him from falling. Shigi whirled around, blinking angry tears of pain from his eyes.
"You first."
The blond hissed through gritten teeth, glaring magnificently. Hien let go and stooped (He he, didn't hurt him~) in, holding out a mocking hand for the other to take. Shigi's eyes slitted, and he strode in; purposefully ignoring his companion.
"Must be nice to be so short that you can do that."
Hien commented with a grin, chuckling a he saw Shigi freeze in rage. Ah, he was always fun to tease.
"Shut up."
The blond breathed, dropping to his knees with a involuntary whimper. Hien felt a few pangs of guilt batter again his conscience.
"Hey, you okay?"
He asked nervously. After a few moments, Shigi shook his head.
"It really hurts."
He admitted in a shamed whisper, curling up into a tearful ball. Hien bit his lip and knelt beside him, hesitant as to what he should do.
"Do...D'you need more herbs? I can go get some, or maybe..."
He trailed off, racking his brains. What could he do? He'd never, ever seen Shigi like this before. The blond whimpered again, desperatly trying to muffle it into the pillow.
Oh man...
Hien raked his (left) hand through his hair and sat cross-legged next to him.
"You know..."
He started hesitantly, eyeing his companion again.
"When my sister used to get sick..."
He paused. Saying this now could be the same thing as signing his death warrant. Because Shigi would kill him. In a painful way. For even suggesting it...
...Or he might not.
Hien cleared his throat and went on casually.
"I used to kinda...like...hold her? I think it helped."
There was a long pause. Slowly, Shigi turned to face him. He looked incredulous.
"Hien...Are you honestly suggesting that your mere presence in my bed will cure me of any pain?!"
"Uh...No. I guess not."
"Good."
Once again, the pair lay in an uncomfortable silence, with Hien stealing the occasional glance. He faked a yawn and crawled over to his bed.
"Guess it's time to sleep, then..."
Shigi unfurled and stared at him with one eye, watching as he threw the covers over his poor, injured self.
"Night..."
Hien grunted, rolling over onto his less-injured side. He heard a rustle, and assumed that the blond was following his lead to sleep.
"...Hien?"
A pair of icy hands on his back startled him into a yelp.
"HOLY SEIRYUU FUCK! Shigi?!!"
"Don't turn around."
A muffled, annoyed voice breathed into his back. Hien froze as he felt arms gingerly circle his waist.
"..."
"And if you roll onto me, I will kill you."
Shigi warned. Hien nodded, and slowly reached for one of the blond's hands. It flinched as soon as he touched it, but soon gave in to being wrapped in warmth. For a few seconds, Hien lay ramrod straight; either waiting for one of his fingers to be ripped off, or for another equally terrifying attack. When none came, he couldn't help but tug a little at the hand. Again, there was no response, and the breathing at the back of his neck didn't falter.
"Shigi?"
He whispered into the dark. A curious little nose greeted him, and Shigi's body shifted so that the blond's mouth was pressed against the bone near his shoulder. The warm breath against his bare skin started to lull him into a similar sleepy state.
"See? Told you it would work..."
Hien muttered with a smirk, slowly relaxing into the blond's strict embrace. Ah, the joys that morning would bring...
